37 years later, I finally got the CULT thing
by Freedom77 inhi all, just happened to come across this site again after 10 or 12 years - i see some old posts of mine under a diff username (can't reopen the account, forgot the freakin' password).
i left the borg in 1977, age 21, haven't looked back but every now and then i am amazed to find there's some old, old attitude from the jw days that i find is still clinging to my pants leg like a stray sticker.. looking over some of the posts here and some linked ex-jw sites yesterday it finally hit me - it is an effing cult.
when i was in, we were always accused of being that, so naturally we totally spouted the society's line and got all defensive, etc.

Now for the rest of the story...
These four aren't armageddon survivors. They were resurrected because their parents had refused life-saving blood fractions when blood fractions were prohibited. They've been digging graves in paradise for years now and reached adulthood. However, they are resurrected to be "like the angels," meaning no marriage and no sex, but with the same sexual urges that angels have, as was documented before the flood.
These four don't know it yet, but the graves that they're digging this time are their own. Jehovah says they can't have sex or get married, but their hormones and desires are raging. Therefore, they will have to be killed for committing fornication in their hearts.
The End.

The hardship of being a gay Jehovahs witness.
by truthwillsetyoufree inplease spare a moment to consider the difiiculties faced by gay jehovahs witnesses.
i was raised and baptised as a very serious jw.
every waking moment of my day was lived for jehovahs and his organization and for nothing else.

"its also revealing to see how elders are willing to share private juducial informaiton"
These are the definitions according to how a lot of elders think:
non-confidential -- Something that can be discussed from the platform.
confidential -- Something you tell everyone, but only tell one person at a time.

Hello and Thank You!
by Vintagewife ini've been lurking here for about 3 months and decided it was time to register and become active.
i left the organization 17 years ago.
like so many of you, i had endured less than christian behavior from the strong cliches that ran our congregation.

WT Study, Sunday 6th July 2014.
by skin init might be the way i think and see, but the first time i looked at the image on pg 27 of the april 15th watchtower i was trying to figure out how it applied to this study.
this is a darkened black and white image that appears in my edition of this magazine, (its colour online).
anyway, para 9 talks about a brother that had an issue with looking at online porn.

This will probably be a confession that will creep many out, or many will have completely opposite opinions on...
When I had a computer and dial-up at bethel, I got into viewing porn. It must have been happening a lot based on the number in bethel that were caught or confessed. I never confessed or was caught, but there was a lot of guilt and shame. I often tried to quit, but it was hard, very hard (innuendo intended). For all the condemning by WT, it didn't stop me, it just made me more careful and more curious. It was a battle that I couldn't win, and really didn't seem to want to win.
Once I mentally left, and had high-speed internet, my usage escalated. After reading a couple threads here and some articles, and seeing a couple videos, I found www.yourbrainonporn.com . I certainly hadn't escalated as much as the guys that recorded their stories there. After researching how porn can influence many male brains and taking inventory of how I saw that porn had affected me and could affect me, I quit my porn viewing habit. It's been quite a while now, and I never had a relapse. For me, quiting my porn habit became the logical thing to do and has improved my quality of life.
How weird is that? All the years I was a JW, even an elder and bethelite, all the prayer, talks, and WT lessons, and I couldn't kick the porn habit. Once I became an exJW and have opportunity to go for whatever porn I want... and I have kicked the habit. And it's not like I'm acting out all kinds of sexual craziness like I thought I would if I left da troof. Disappointing? Not for me. I'm finding my normal and it's surprisingly satisfying.
Okay, yeah, I'm weird.

Another cheery video for the kids on jw.dork

It's impressive... if the person has never seen other animated TV programs or Movies. Even that promotional video struck me as, "I've seen stuff like this already."
The problems for WT with videos is that they would need to make a lot more, a lot faster, if they want to keep people's attention. As much as the GB wish the sheeple would watch their videos every night, that doesn't happen. Kids have a greater interest in watching something or hearing the same story over and over, but that only goes so far.
So is Caleb never going to grow up? Will he be like Bart Simpson and always stay the same age?

Singapore's Pink Dot celebration
by fulltimestudent ina few years ago i had an opportunity to discuss the situation for gay people in singapore with a gay chinese man from that country.
he told me that despite the fact that the singapore government persisted in retaining an old british law that criminalised male to male sex, and that the government banned any normal method of protest, that gay people in this small (essentially just one city on a small island) had decided not to use western methods (i.e.
as used by gay groups in western countries) but to basically use a large picnic to celebrate their sexuality.. this was the first i'd heard of what has become known as singapore's pinkdot.. starting very small it has grown.

Something that strikes me as bizarre is the Muslims wearing white as a silent protest of this event.
After watching the news for years and seeing Muslims slaughter each other, even Muslim rulers using chemical weapons to kill the Muslim children in Syria, these self-righteous people decide that it is important to protest this pink dot celebration? Now Muslim terrorist organizations are plotting to carry out even more attacks on the rest of the world.
Are these Muslims planning any kind of protest, silent or otherwise, to try to end the Muslim bloodthirst?

At RC, Splane says 1000+ new KH's needed, last year only "60" new one's built.
by oppostate inso there are now regular, full time "construction servants" and their help is much needed along with regional rbc volunteers, who better get working because over a thousand kh's are needed and last year only sixty were built by the u.s. branch.
.
splane also said that just with the new baptized this weekend all over the u.s. we had one whone new circuit, so we better put more work into building needed kingdom halls..

"Splane also said that just with the new baptized this weekend all over the U.S. we had one whole new circuit"
A circuit of 8 year-olds? That would be interesting!

Most absurd thing I heard at the convention yesterday!
by Batman89 inbrother lett was giving the last talk of the day about what they supposedly accomplished in 100 years.
i was just waking up so im paraphrasing alittle(i was dosing off all day) anyways in his introduction he said.
"there is more evidence to prove gods kingdom on the earth is a reality than wind, electricity and gravity is a reality on the earth".

"now that you are baptized your prayers are more readily heard by Jehovah."
Wrong. This is how prayer really works:
